This weeks studio status is with sound artist, sculptor and musician Martin Janíček, who will share his current interests and work as well as a selection of sonic material.

Martin Janíček
Sound artist, sculptor, and musician investigating acoustic qualities of various materials and spaces. Creates original sound instruments, interactive objects and installations, radio compositions, spatial compositions. Martin studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague, 1990-1997 and was later an assistant at the conceptual department of prof. M.Šejn–till 2002. Often works site-specifically, since 2000 he was a member of mamapapa c.a., where, with T.Žižka, he realised a number of important local and international projects, (circa 100) until 2012.

#4: THE CURRENCY OF HATE

For the 4th episode, we will be discussing together with artists and art professionals about the phenomenon of anonymous social media platforms spreading decontextualized excerpts of artists’ works while claiming they should not get public fundings for their work. These posts and videos are attracting thousands of followers and resulting in threats and harassment against artists, most often based on inaccuracies and fake news.

For this episode, we have invited Harald Beharie, Tormod Carlsen, Karen Nikgol, Jan Lothe Eriksen (Safemuse/Fri Kunst) and Kristine Karåla Øren (Norske Dansekunstnere) to talk about the challenges artists and art institutions have observed and experienced in our field due to these platforms, as well as the potential solutions, strategies of solidarity and resistance to deal with this new situation.
