Radio Tenthaus episode 84 “On SeSiSå” Part Three features teachers from Møllergata Skole Korps Ole Magnus Næsbakken Ekeberg and Håvard Johansen. The episode is hosted by one of the artists of “On SeSiSå” Wei Ting Zeng.

“On SeSiSå is a series of talk radios broadcasted in relation to the workshop-based exhibition “SeSiSå” at TENTHAUS from 07. until 22.Jan 2022.

Three different groups of artists will be invited to each of the three talks. With a seemingly serious adverb “on”, “On SeSiSå” reviews and discusses children’s “creativity”, including visual, aural and improvisational exercises during the workshops of SeSiSå, and dialogues on body, space, and site-specific gestures. 

One of the main groups of participants of the workshop “On SeSiSå” is members from Møllergata Skole Korps. They finally had the chance to have a conversation about how the children experienced the workshop. Moreover, both Ole Magnus and Håvard were enthusiastically speaking of their 8 years of teaching experience at Møllergata Skole Korps, and a more South African style of playing they have developed, which is rather unique compared with the Korps culture in Norway.

Møllergata skoles musikkorps ble stiftet i 1901 og er Norges eldste skolekorps. Ja, for det var her det begynte. William Farre het mannen som startet det hele. Og i dag, over 100 år senere, er det skolekorps over hele landet, og i mange andre land. Men det var altså her på Møllergata skole det begynte!

Etter noen år med dårlig oppslutning ble det gjort noen spede oppbygningsforsøk i løpet av 90-tallet. I september 2000 besto korpset av kun en musikant – en trommeslager. Høsten 2000 ble korpset restartet av Sissel Larsen som landets første multikulturelle skolekorps, og 17. Mai 2001 marsjerte 63 musikanter fra 21 forskjellige nasjoner foran Møllergata skole opp Karl Johan.

Korpset tar opp nye aspiranter hvert år, og her får de den første opplæringen. Etter hvert blir man med i Juniorkorpset, og senere i Hovedkorpset.
