For today’s program of Radio Momentum, we would like to share some memories and knowledge that we collected in around the world.
This is an episode part of the Embassy Project at Momentum 12. In 2023 there will be approximately 20 Art Biennales that vary in size. With the “Embassy Project”, we are initiating a platform that invites these biennales to have their own embassy in Momentum12. Tenthaus´ practice is about making bonds, this extends into the Embassy project; creating a web of connections into an ecosystem of practice and knowledge exchange, and establishing a beginning for future opportunities of collaboration. Each biennale is invited to share a glimpse of their process, project or practice with each other and the respective public.
And for today’s episode, we would like to share a conversation with one of the curators of Singapore Biennale 2023, Binna Choi, hosted by Tenthaus curators, Ida Uvaas, Mechu Rapela, Belen Santillan, Wei Ting Tseng, Matilde Balatti, and Ebba Moi.
We had a great opportunity to talk to Binna Choi, in Singapore Biennale’s office at SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark. In this episode, you’ll discover what inspired Choi to curate the biennale, how they selected the participating artists and the themes that emerged from the exhibition. You’ll also learn about the curators’ creative process, the challenges they faced, and their vision for the future of the biennale.
Singapore Biennale 2022 named Natasha.
The seventh edition of the Singapore Biennale is named Natasha. The act of naming serves as a prompt to artists, collaborators, and audiences to re-discover ways of seeing and relating to the world. Going to Natasha is to embrace the possibility of intimacy and spontaneity afforded by such recognition, as well as to reflect on the transformative potential within life and its relations — from self to others, from human to non-human, from living to non-living and vice versa, and beyond. The artists and collaborators thus become ‘fellow travellers’ in the journey of Natasha, expressed through artistic imagination and research. Featuring over 50 artists and collaborators embarking on a collective journey with Natasha, Singapore Biennale 2022 will take place from 16 October 2022 to 19 March 2023. Look forward to a series of artist talks, performances and workshops! (Text: https://www.singaporebiennale.org/)
