For this Momentum Radio, we have invited the artist Jan-Erik Beck, a local artist living and working in Moss, with probably one of the longest relations to the Momentum biennial. He was in the board before Momentum started, and very engaged in the starting up of the biennial. Jan-Erik is a sculptor and has been teaching at Einar Granum kunstfagskole for years. The conversation with is hosted by Ebba Moi, who is one of the curators of Momentum 12. Jan-Erik will also be sharing some amazing music from the 90th with us tonight.

JAN-ERIK L. BECK (b. 1959 in Copenhagen) lives and works in Moss. Beck has his education from E. Granum (1980-82) and the Art Academy in Trondheim (1984-88). Beck mainly works contextually and site-specifically with sculpture and installation. Together with, among others, Guttorm Nordø and Hans Martin Øien, Beck ran the artist group Gruppe X, which operated both on and outside the established art scene. He has exhibited and run his projects around the country and has carried out a number of public works in Eastern Norway and in Trøndelag. Beck has been awarded various scholarships and grants and is, among other things, a purchased for Oslo Municipality’s Art Collection, Norwegian Cultural Council, etc.

Radio Momentum is a platform open to artists participating in MOMENTUM 12. It provides a bridge to a wider program of exhibitions, sound works, research, workshops, audio tours, interviews, discussions, and events.
