EPISODE 12
Listen: Sound Pictures
This broadcast is the last in the Sonic Scenography series. It is an investigation into the concept of SOUND PICTURES as described by Thørbjørn Reuter Christiansen in a conversation about his father, the composer and artist Henning Christiansen. The program includes a sequence of recordings where the confinement of the space is counterposed by recordings of nature and imposed rhythms, including the Henning Christiansen Archive.
The Sonic Scenography series has been investigating creatively, the notion of confinement, both physical and psychological, where the compositions for each of the 3 hour long broadcasts have been produced weekly. The radio format has been challenged in terms of slow listening and the ability to create SOUND PICTURES comparable to Christiansen’s sonic performances.
I would like to thank the team at Tenthaus Oslo and Elisabeth Gangnes for their help and support with the project which was initiated by them in conjunction with Tenthaus Radio and which was Rachel Dagnall’s master project at the department of Scenography at NTA (Høgskolen I Østfold).
