15/12/2020 20:00 – 23:00
A Radio Series by Kirsty Kross for Tenthaus
EPISODE 2
Featuring Interviews and Playlists with Jennie Bringaker and Rita Marhaug as well as an improvised noise set by Stavanger based art and music group, GN00R that was recorded in the forest at Dale i Sunnfjord.
Kirsty Kross introduces the series walking alone in the forest at night without a flashlight. Whilst on an arts residency at Dale Nordisk Kunstnersenter, a Scandinavian arts paradise, she has had much time for soul searching as an artist. Will she be able to negotiate the next period of her life and still keep making art?
Jennie Bringaker is a very prolific artist based in Oslo and is also the mother of two, very, young children. Jennie discusses balancing motherhood and art as well as her transformation from performance artist in the duo, Trollkrem to becoming a sculptor working in stone as a way to deal with mortality.
Rita Marhaug has had a very long career as a performance artist and her work deals with issues such as social norms about how women should look and behave. Rita managed to juggle having children whilst still studying at university and now has a successful career as an art academic and artist. In the interview, Rita discusses her role models and also her plans to grow into an old and eccentric female artist.
Swearing warning. Kirsty Kross fell many times in the dark in the forest, almost lost an eye and did eventually get lost for about ten minutes. Research has proven though that people who swear are generally more honest.
