22/12/2020 20:00 – 23:00
A Radio Series by Kirsty Kross for Tenthaus
EPISODE 3
Featuring Interviews and Playlists with Helen Eriksen and Kari Glomsås.
Helen Eriksen is part of the trio behind Tenthaus- one of Oslo’s foremost institutions in creating and promoting socially engaged art. Helen talks about her journey from Liverpool to Oslo and how she decided to become an artist. Helen also discusses why she choose to work in socially engaged art and how the project of Tenthaus emerged organically from a studio in a former blacksmith foundry located on the grounds of a school.
Kari Glomsås is an Oslo based artist in her mid-eighties. Working as an artist alongside her career as a social worker, Kari used art as a way to deal with the pressures of motherhood and her often stressful job. Kari discusses how she managed to keep working despite these busy demands and how her many years later spent in Tanzania as an aid worker also inspired her art. Kari also talks about ageing and how still working actively as an artist sets her apart from other octogenarians as well as in the time of Corona.
Also featuring music by Stavanger based, GN00R. Recorded in the forest at night in Dale i Sunnfjord at the Nordisk Kunstnersenter Dale.
Swearing warning. Kirsty Kross fell many times in the dark in the forest, almost lost an eye and did eventually get lost for about ten minutes. Research has proven though that people who swear are generally more honest.
