EPISODE 35
‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ / #studiostatus Stefan Schröder / Conjunktival
05/01/2021 20:00 – 23:00
Tenthaus presents episode one of Beatrice Gibson’s series What’s Love Got To Do With It? featuring CA Conrad and Leanne Howe. We also introduce the new series #studiostatus, beginning with Tenthaus’ own Stefan Schröder. The programme concludes with a selection of mixes from Belgian collective Conjunktival.
What’s Love Got To Do With It? is programmed and curated by Beatrice Gibson, produced by Alannah Chance, and features unique compositions by Crystabel Riley and Seymour Wright.
It is a commission by Bergen Kunsthall; Camden Art Centre, London; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; and Mercer Union, a centre for contemporary art, Toronto.
What’s Love Got To Do With It? is a three-part podcast series about Radical Love. In this episode, CAConrad and LeAnne Howe share an intensely personal conversation with one another about First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, who insisted she was tormented by an Indigenous Spirit – a reminder that her husband’s record on racial equality is fraught with violence and oppression; AIDS and loving during the Reagan years; and the new horizons created by the Black Lives Matter movement.

#studiostatus: “To fill some gaps in Tenthaus weekly radio program, it felt natural to have a look behind closed studio doors, sneak a bit around, get inspired, and invite our listeners in. What do we see, what is on the table, what kind of works are in the making right now? Since it would be almost impossible to drive around and visit artists we just ask them to let us in their studios. They are encouraged to tell us for five or ten minutes what they are working on, what they see themselves, turning around on their heels, just doing a 360 while pushing the mobile sound record button. Nothing more, nothing less. Each artist invites the two next ones, and so on. So lets start!”
Conjunktival is a shared artist practice from Belgium which was formed during lockdown in March 2020. Conjunktival’s broadcasts are online gatherings where people can explore, interact, play, listen and connect with people from all over the world. The gathering is set in a 3D fictional environment where people can join and explore the worlds while listening to the mixes and soundpieces by invited artists.
For this broadcast we will hear a selection of concerts from previous Conjunktival events from the artists Aranyal from Chile, Japanraingoggle from USA and Dj emancipation nation from Belgium.
